The anti-poaching squad of the Forest Department on Friday arrested five persons at Langar Houz in the city on charges of killing a wild boar, which is a protected species.
In a raid conducted on a tip off, the squad picked up three persons while they were allegedly trying to cook wild boar meat at Langar Houz. Two others fled the scene but were apprehended immediately.
According to Sk. Baba Khader Vali, Deputy Range Officer, Anti-Poaching Squad, the accused, D. Sadanand, M. Sambaiah, P. Sanjeev, R. Kishore and Siva, were allegedly involved in the offence. Three of them were charged for trapping and killing the animal and the others for aiding them.
