5-day course on Business Analytics at IITH

Experienced data scientists from the industry to teach

Recognising the importance of business analytics as a discipline and the shortage of qualified data scientists, the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) will conduct a five-day certificate course from December 21 on ‘Business Analytics using R’ for working professionals.

In this course techniques for market segmentation, forecasting and prediction, fraud detection and time series analysis will be taught.

According to Sobhan Babu, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IITH, “Big data analytics /Business Analytics is a discipline which is changing our lives drastically. It is touching every area of human society from banking to health care. I am quite happy to teach this wonderful and fascinating subject to working professionals and see them mastering this area.”

The course is tailor-made for those working professionals who want to enhance their knowledge in business analytics as well as for those who are looking for career shift to business analytics. This course will be taught by well-qualified faculty from the IITH, who are experts in fraud analytics and experienced data scientists from the industry.

The course will provide participants with the knowledge and essential skills needed to address the challenges of data intensive decision-making environment. It is a case study-based course, with participants getting extensive hands-on training using the open source R statistical software, whose popularity increased substantially in recent years. Participants must have undergraduate level mathematical or statistical maturity.
