44-yr-old arrested for sexual assault on minor

A 44-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sexually assaulting a fifth standard girl at Rein Bazaar, the police said.

The accused, Mohd. Anwar Qureshi, a worker at a meat shop in Yakutpura’s SRT Colony had called the girl - who was returning home from school - into his shop, where he assaulted her, said D. Bhikshapathi, Detective Inspector, Rein Bazaar police station.

Police have detained the accused and registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.

Woman’s body found

Body of a 22-year-old-woman was retrieved from a well at Falaknuma on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Zareena, a resident of Madan Khan Mulgis in Jahanuma.

The family members of the victim told the police that the woman had been missing for the past three days. Police suspect that the woman might have ended her life by jumping in the well.
