The Third and Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Erramanzil here sentenced 73 persons to imprisonment for two to seven days after they were booked for drunk driving.
The courts also suspended the driving licence of 10 offenders for a period ranging from six months to two years.
They had been caught during a special drive between February 12 and 16.
Earlier this week, the city traffic police filed 591 charge sheets against persons driving in an inebriated state.
A total fine of ₹12.59 lakh was imposed on the offenders, who were sent to the Chanchalguda Central Prison.
“Apart from them, five other violators were imprisoned for two days for non-payment of challans and driving without licence,” an official release said.
Meanwhile, the Rachakonda police booked 256 drunk driving cases and imposed a fine of ₹4.07 lakh on the offenders, who were also imprisoned.
