3 end lives by torching themselves

Three persons who attempted suicide by setting themselves on fire succumbed to their burns in the last 24 hours.

Shaheda Begum (29) of Falaknuma died while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Monday. Police said Begum doused herself with kerosene and set herself on fire on December 3 due to harassment of her husband.

Reshma Bai (27) of Mangalhat, who set herself on fire on December 5 over a quarrel with her sister, died at OGH on Sunday. Family members told the police that Reshma resorted to the extreme step after the quarrel.

At Mylardevpally, businessman Mohd. Amjad (28) ended his life by immolating himself on Sunday. Family members said Amjad had been depressed over personal issues.
