May 29, 2012 09:44 am | Updated July 11, 2016 09:50 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Nineteen Congressmen have filed nominations for the GHMC standing committee polls scheduled to be held on June 7. The party in alliance with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has to fill eight of the 15 posts available in the committee presided over by Mayor Majid Hussain.

But, more than double the number have filed their papers. Senior party leaders are hopeful of sorting out the confusion before the poll date and make some of the ‘rebels; withdraw from the contest even though it is not clear who were the ‘official' candidates.

MIM has to fill seven posts and its candidates have filed their papers. So did two Telugu Desam corporators and an Independent member who was sailing till now with the Congress.
