At least 200 two-wheelers were burnt after fire broke out at the parking lot of RTC bus-stand at Shadnagar, 50 km from here, on Saturday.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the one of the biggest fires reported in recent times.

People from Shadnagar and surrounding villages park their vehicles at the bus-stand parking lot and come to the city. That was why nearly 300 two-wheelers were there at the parking lot, the police said.

According to the Shamshabad DCP of Cyberabad P.V. Padmaja, the Electricity department officials took up some work.

“While the welding work was on, sparks flew and fell on the vehicles. This is yet to be corroborated by the Fire department personnel,” Ms. Padmaja said.

Eyewitnesses told the police that smoke began emanating from a corner of the parking lot. Within seconds, the blazes spread all over.

As petrol tanks of some vehicles got burst, flames spread fast.
