Forty tolas of gold ornaments and Rs. 2.50 lakh were recovered from two persons who were arrested by the Chaderghat police for their alleged involvement in a burglary reported at a businessman’s house in Kaladera in August.

According to the police, Syed Omer (23) and Syed Tariq Mohidduin (21) of Santoshnagar were arrested on January 16 for allegedly planning and taking away one kilogram of gold and other articles from the house of Md. Abdul Raheem Khan.

“Omer entered into the house after breaking the lock while Tariq kept a watch on Abdul Raheem who, along with his family members, went to pick a relative at the RGI Airport. The duo then mortgaged the articles at two different banks,” Detective Inspector Chaderghat, Dheeravath Hussain said.

While the police recovered the gold ornaments pledged with Karur Vysya Bank, it could not get the articles kept at Canara Bank.
