2 held for possessing substance drugs

The Excise department arrested two individuals for possessing psychotropic substance MDMA on Saturday. The department also sent letters to 14 bars and pubs in the city warning them against sale of contraband substances.

Mohammed Usman and Arnav Mandal were arrested for possession of 20 grams MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.

The total number of arrests made by the department in connection with drugs has increased to 15 this month. The department also received custody of other individuals arrested earlier. Senior officials of the Excise department informed that they would crackdown on pub and bars selling psychotropic substances. The licence of one establishment was cancelled. The department also wants pubs and bars to display notices creating awareness against drug use.

As part of its investigation into the alleged drug-links with Tollywood, the department informed in a press release that actress Charmee Kaur will be also be interrogated at the Special Investigation Team’s office. Actor Navdeep is expected to appear for inquiry on Monday.
