The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities have announced that the rail lines between Ameerpet and L.B. Nagar on corridor one (the Red Line) and between Ameerpet and Hi-Tec City on corridor three (the Blue Line) would be commissioned in August and October-end respectively.

The opening of corridor two (the Green Line) from Jubilee Bus Station to MGBS has been slated for early next year. But the timeline for opening these lines for public would certainly be tight considering that some more properties have to be acquired for completing the pending work such as providing the right of way, entry and exits to the overhead stations etc.

The Ameerpet-Miyapur stretch seems to be poised well as only two properties have to be taken over for providing the right of way for traffic to complete the entire Red Line.

For completing the Blue Line, 15 more properties have to be acquired between Ameerpet and Hi-Tec City. The Green Line, would require close to 170 properties with 138 properties at Sultan Bazar alone. About 71 properties at Badechowdi, 28 properties at Pulti Bowli and 32 at Sultan Bazar are to be acquired within a month’s time. The same procedure awaits five properties on the Jubilee Hills-Madhapur road, another two on Chikkadpally road, six properties at the proposed Durgam Cheruvu metro station and another property at Habsiguda. These details were presented to Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi by the Collectors of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medhcal-Malkajgiri at special task force meeting held recently to review the ongoing work.

HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy gave a status report on the work currently under way and those pending. These include transfer of 500 sq yards to the postal dept. at Gachibowli in lieu of land at Secunderabad, while TSRTC has to vacate its tenant at Rathifile bus station for entry-exit works at Secunderabad east metro tation.
