174 colleges fail to make it to phase I of admissions

August 27, 2014 12:43 am | Updated 12:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad has failed to issue affiliation certificates to 174 colleges till late on Tuesday, thus effectively plugging any hope of the college managements to make it to the first phase of engineering counselling.

College managements were at the JNTU persuading them to issue the affiliation certificates as directed by the High Court, but university authorities refused to accede to their demands stating that they have to go through the judgement copy and act accordingly. Wednesday is the last date for giving web options for candidates above one lakh rank while Tuesday was the last day for those below the one lakh rank.

Engineering Admission officials said that they have not received any information from the JNTU till late in the night and it was difficult to include them now. It means, the 174 colleges have to wait till the second phase of counselling even if the JNTU clears their affiliation status in the next few days.
