A 11-year old boy, Agastya Jaiswal, has cleared the Intermediate second year examination securing 63 % marks. He is said to be the youngest to clear the examination. However, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) officials clarified that they don’t keep birthday records of any student and officially do not endorse any such claims. “If the student passes the SSC examination, he or she is eligible to appear for Intermediate exams irrespective of the age,” said Susheel Kumar, Controller of Examinations, BIE.

A statement from Agastya’s father said that he studied at St. Mary’s Junior College, Yousufguda. He is the younger brother of national table-tennis player, Naina Jaiswal. Naina also wrote the SSC and Intermediate examinations at a young age and also completed her degree from Osmania University.
