A 27-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man she had met through Facebook a year-and-a-half ago.
According to the woman’s complaint, the accused, Rohit Chaudhary, a resident of Ghaziabad, was in a relationship with her and had promised to marry her, but later refused allegedly because she belonged to a scheduled caste. He, however, forced her to come to a hotel in Ghaziabad where he allegedly raped her after threatening to release their intimate photos and videos on the Internet. A few days later, he blackmailed her again and raped her at her brother’s shop, after which she approached the police. The FIR was registered at Vasant Kunj North police station on Tuesday. The accused is absconding, said the police.
Marriage promise
The woman, who has a daughter, alleged that the man had also taken money from her.. “He knew about my daughter. He told me that he will marry me after his younger sister gets married. Because I believed him, I gave him money whenever he asked me,” she said in her complaint.
The victim alleged that she was told by the accused’s friend last month that he was making the same promises to another woman. “I called him to Connaught Place where I saw his and the other woman’s photos in his phone. There he told me that he will not go against his parents’ wish and not marry me because I was from Scheduled Caste,” she said.
The woman then spoke to the mother of the accused who allegedly threatened her to stay away from her son. “They said they won’t even have water from my hand, let alone allowing their son to marry me,” she alleged.
Blackmailed with photos
Despite the conflict, the accused called the victim to a hotel in Ghaziabad threatening her to release her photos and videos on the Internet if she didn’t.
“He raped me there. Later, he forced me to allow him to come to my brother’s parlour where he forced himself on me again,” she alleged, adding that she was scared of him sharing the photos online.
The police have registered a case under and have launched a hunt for the accused.
