Caught between a cheating husband and two police stations sparring over jurisdiction, a woman allegedly hanged herself on Thursday.
The family of the woman, meanwhile, blocked traffic in East Delhi’s Mandawali after they came to know about her husband’s previous marriage.
They blamed the husband for keeping them in the dark, and the police for its inaction. The 23-year-old woman, Kajal Gupta, got married to one Ankit Gupta last November after a brief courtship.
“Soon after the marriage Kajal came to know that Ankit already had a wife and had lied about being an orphan. He also has a daughter from the previous marriage,” police the said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Rishi Pal said that allegations against the policemen will be looked into and that Ankit has been booked for dowry death.
