Woman kills daughter because she wanted son

A 22-year-old woman allegedly murdered her three-month-old daughter and hid her body inside a washing machine at her house in Patla village, Ghaziabad, the police said on Monday.

A senior police officer said the victim, Shivani, was the woman’s first child and the accused decided to kill her as she wanted a son. The accused, Aarti, suffocated Shivani with a pillow on Sunday around 8 a. m. The police said that the rest of the family, including her in-laws, had gone out of the house when she committed the crime.

Ravinder Yadav, Station House Officer of Niwari police station, said the woman then bundled the girl inside the washing machine and locked the room. The accused then called up the police to report that her daughter had been abducted by some people or a wild animal

When the police reached the area, they searched the neighbourhood and finally the house, where the cops found the body of the girl.

Aarti was questioned and she admitted to the crime, said the police. The investigators said that there was no pressure on the woman from her in-laws or her husband for a son. . The woman, from Khanjarpur village, got married over a year ago.
