Three men allegedly raped and assaulted a 25-year-old woman in Vasant Kunj here on Wednesday.

According to the police, the victim left her residence in Rangpuri Pahadi and was headed towards a local market when she was abducted.

“Around 9 p.m. while she was waiting for a bus at a stop, two men in a car stopped and offered her a lift. The girl accepted the offer. But as soon as she stepped inside the vehicle, she was forced to smell a handkerchief and she fell unconscious. Thereafter, she cannot recall the entire sequence of events,” said a police officer.

The officer added that the vehicle was driven to a forest area near Nangal Dewat village. It was there that the two men, identified as Jitender and Jai Bhagwan, were joined by another person Ajay.

It is alleged that the three took turns to rape her before driving her back and dumping her at an isolated location close to where she was picked up.

The victim subsequently made a call to the police control room and a team rushed to help her. A case was registered and based on the clues provided by the victim. The police zeroed in on the accused and arrested them on Thursday. The vehicle of offence was also seized.

Meanwhile, another case of gang-rape was registered on Wednesday against two Karawal Nagar residents for allegedly raping their 17-year-old neighbour. The victim has accused the two men of taking her to their home a couple of months ago and raping her there.

She also added it was because she was threatened by the two accused, she did not approach the police earlier. The police said initially the woman had levelled charges of molestation but later added she was raped as well. The two men have been arrested.
