The victim got no help from her fellow passengers

A Delhi Police woman constable was allegedly molested in a moving bus on Saturday night but got the man arrested after fighting him off without the help of co-passengers, said the police.

The 35-year-old constable was headed to Sarojini Nagar to be on duty in a PCR van near Leela Palace Hotel. She boarded a Delhi Transport Corporation bus at Nangloi. The accused, 24-year-old Abhinav Dube, boarded the same bus in an inebriated state.

As the bus was passing through Naraina, Dube allegedly starting molesting the constable. “She kept warning him to stop, but he continued for over half an hour. The victim repeatedly told him that she was a police officer, but he even tried to slap her,” said a senior police officer.

The woman constable had a shawl draped over her police uniform.

Finding no help from her co-passengers, the victim finally decided to deal with the accused on her own and ordered the bus driver to halt near Moti Bagh Flyover. “She pulled the accused out of the bus and then called the police,” said the officer.

A PCR van arrived at the spot in no time and arrested the man. Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered against the accused at R.K. Puram police station.

The victim, a resident of Nangloi, is currently posted in a PCR van in south zone.
