Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that the Delhi government will not hesitate to take stringent action against private hospitals for negligence.
Mr. Kejriwal said this while addressing a crowd at Mundka during inauguration of development projects in unauthorised neighbourhoods. “The government holds doctors in high regard but that will not stop us from taking action against hospitals for negligence,” he said.
Slams Manoj Tiwari
The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) had threatened to go on strike after the government revoked the licence of Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. The hospital recently declared premature twins dead, one of whom was later found alive by the parents. However, the boy died later.
Mr. Kejriwal also called out Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari for “supporting” the private hospital. Mr. Tiwari had opposed the government’s decision to cancel the licence of Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh.
“It is shameful that Mr. Tiwari supported the hospital, which looted a poor family. It is sad that instead of standing with the family and with the people of Delhi, he chose to stand with the hospital after the government cancelled its licence,” he said.
This, he said, will be a warning for all private hospitals that the government will not go easy on them. Talking about the Aam Aadmi Party government’s work for residents of unauthorised colonies, he said no other Chief Minister had come to visit colonies in Mundka since their construction. He added that the AAP is a party of the poor and its leaders are the common people who became Ministers because of Delhi voters.
“I have inaugurated the project for creating roads and drains here. I will come back in eight months, walking on the roads that we have created,” he said as the crowd cheered him on.
