Who will the Muslims vote for?

October 19, 2013 11:51 am | Updated November 17, 2021 12:10 am IST - NEW DELHI:

While the jury is still out on how authentic pre-poll surveys are, there is an interesting twist in the number of Muslim voters choosing the BJP in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. While the BJP itself does not think it stands much of a chance with the Muslim voters, the contenders AAP seem to think otherwise.

The Aam Aadmi Party in its newest survey conducted across 70 Assembly constituencies has forecast the BJP getting 13 per cent votes from Muslims. Incidentally, the BJP’s own survey pegs this number at a mere 2 per cent.

The Congress will get a whopping 68 per cent of the Muslim vote share according to the BJP’s survey, but the AAP’s survey brings this number down to 46 per cent. The AAP itself is poised to take 26 per cent of the Muslim votes as per its own survey.
