The monsoon may have overshot its June 29 date with Delhi, but the Capital still received 191.9 mm of rainfall in June — the highest for the month in the last 10 years. In June 2007, the city had received 150.9 mm of rainfall.
Monsoon by July 2
The Meteorological (MeT) Department said that the monsoon is expected to arrive in Delhi by July 2.
“Favourable conditions are developing for further advance of the southwest monsoon into most parts of west UP, NCR and some parts of Uttarakhand and Haryana in the next 72 hours,” said the MeT department.
Meanwhile, rain continued to lash the city on Friday and the Capital received 13.3 mm of rain between 8.30 a.m and 5.30 p.m. The maximum temperature plunged to 31.1 degrees Celsius, six notches below the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal.
The MeT department has forecast generally cloudy sky with moderate rain/thundershowers over the weekend.
