No more demolitions in unauthorised colonies, says Sheila

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit made a host of announcements ranging from construction of a hospital to the construction of monorail at a rally in the Uttam Nagar constituency of MLA Mukesh Sharma here on Sunday.

The Chief Minister said even her political opponents acknowledged that the city had changed for the better in the past 14 years of the Congress rule. She said the present generation was fortunate enough not to have suffered from electricity and water shortage. She promised uninterrupted power and water supply to every household within the next two years.

She said there would be no more demolition in unauthorised colonies and that her government would soon legalise all these colonies.

While listing the numerous achievements of her government from the Delhi Metro to flyovers, she announced the construction of the monorail that would cover densely-populated areas where there was no metro or bus connectivity. She also announced that all the Commonwealth Games stadiums would soon be accessible to the public. She also promised the construction of a 200-bed hospital in the Uttam Nagar constituency.

The Chief Minister also announced that “Aadhaar number” would be compulsory for anyone wanting benefits under any of the social schemes and asked the people to come forward and collect their numbers. It was the only way of ensuring that the right people benefitted from the schemes.
