Health First: Ankit Vaish made major changes in his lifestyle after a check-up revealed major health issues.

For Ankit Vaish, a 34-year-old corporate employee, the wake-up call came a couple of years ago after an annual medical check-up. The doctor told him that his cardiovascular disease parameters were unhealthy. He weighed over 100kg, had a resting heart rate of 80-85 beats per minute, was under a lot of stress, had an erratic diet and travelled a lot for work, leaving him with little time for himself.

“My blood pressure had spiked. My heart and blood glucose reports didn’t read well; I was on a disastrous route in terms of health. This, at the age of 30. What shocked me was that I was an athlete in school and had failed to realise when the stress of competitive exams and a job got me,” said Ankit.

There was no looking back after this. “I joined a running squad and learnt about eating healthy, staying fit and being conscious about my body through master coach Gagan Arora. He helped me realise the pressure I was subjecting my body to because of the extra weight, unhealthy lifestyle and erratic rest,” he said.

According to Ankit, “We work hard for good salaries and upgrade our cars, why neglect our bodies that are our biggest assets.”
