Water supply will be affected in several parts South Delhi on Wednesday on account of modernisation of the distribution network.

A Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official said water supply will be mainly affected in R K Puram, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Enclave, Bhikaji Cama Place, Moti Bagh, Satya Niketan, Shanti Niketan, Anand Niketan and adjoining areas due to installation of bulk metres at major water distribution points in the area.

The DJB has initiated the first phase of installation of bulk flow meters in the city in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of water supply.

The project involves designing, installation and commissioning of an online data monitoring system which would help measure the flow, pressure, as well as quality of water.

An analysis of these parameters will help the DJB in better water accounting, checking water losses and expediting emergency response, the official said.

Four hundred critical points have been identified at all the Water Treatment Plants, Underground Reservoirs and transmission and distribution networks, where these measurements will be gauged.

The DJB, which has expressed regret for the inconvenience, advised people to store adequate water to meet requirements.
