A Bench headed by National Green Tribunal (NGT) by chairperson on Friday imposed a penalty of ₹2 lakh on Shalimar Bagh-based Fortis Hospital and ₹1.5 lakh each on Max Super Speciality Hospital and Dharamshila Hospital and Research Centre over their failure to manage bio-medical waste.
A fine of ₹75,000 each was imposed on Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Swami Dayanand Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital.
Directions issued
The NGT also directed medical superintendents of government hospitals to take strict action against officials responsible for violation of environmental laws.
