A sharpshooter wanted in connection with a case of threat and assault reported at Dwarka’s Jaffarpur Kalan has been arrested, the police said on Wednesday.

The police had received a call from Malikpur on May 22 regarding a threat issued to a man and his family by some armed persons. The police reached the spot and were informed that Nakul, a criminal from a nearby village, had come to the complainant’s house and threatened him at gunpoint. Nakul also broke the CCTV cameras installed at the house.

“The complainant said Nakul’s brother Shourav and four unknown persons had threatened to kill his family members,” said ADCP (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena.

Nakul is an accused in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and cases under the Arms Act. Raids were carried out at his hideouts in Delhi and Haryana. Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and the accused was arrested from near Malikpur. A countrymade pistol and two live rounds were seized.

Nakul allegedly told the police that he was a sharpshooter for a gang. He was first arrested in 2014 in a case under the Arms Act. He wanted to form his own gang and needed arms and ammunition. To gather funds for arms and ammunition, he turned to extortion. His initial targets were the people living near his village.
