At least four cars were damaged when a nearly 30 feet section of a wall of Narmada Apartments in Kalkaji collapsed during the incessant rains on Saturday afternoon.
President of the Narmada Apartments Residents Welfare Association R. P. Dhawan said the wall used to provide protection to the residents of the colony from intrusions by criminal elements from the adjoining Jahanpanah City Forest. “It was a 10 feet high wall and with its collapse, the security of our apartments has been hugely compromised.”
Mr. Dhawan said the section of the wall that collapsed also abutted a mini market. “We would like the authorities to construct the wall at the earliest,” he said, adding that the apartments are prone to frequent thefts and burglaries, the latest taking place only a couple of days ago.
Stating that the residents have also been raising the issue of building a higher and stronger wall between the apartments and the city forest, the RWA office bearer said on one ground or the other the work has been getting delayed despite the intervention of politicians right up to the level of a Union Minister.
