Aam Aadmi Party founding member Kumar Vishwas on Sunday signalled once again that all was not well between him and the party.
In a volunteer meet organised by him at the party’s headquarters on Rouse Avenue, Mr. Vishwas said there was need to create another version of the AAP by reuniting members who had left the outfit.
He reiterated that the AAP was moving away from its core values.
More such meetings
Addressing over 30 AAP volunteers and workers on Sunday, Mr. Vishwas said that similar meetings with old party workers will be organised across the country.
“The aim of these meetings is to get the people who had come together to rid Indian politics of corruption back under the same roof again,” Mr. Vishwas said.
“People had hopes about a style of new governance from us. It was evident from the number of people who came for our rallies in 2011 and 2012. In contrast, not even 5,000 people were part of the recent national convention,” he said, referring to the AAP’s November 26 convention where he had attacked the party for allegedly drifting away from its vision.
He also extended an invite to ousted founding members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan to rejoin the AAP. “A communal MLA who had corruption charges against him made baseless allegations against me. He was reinstated in the party overnight and no action was taken against him. This is what the party has come to,” Mr. Vishwas alleged.
The comment referred to his tiff with Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan, who had accused Mr. Vishwas of planning a coup against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and had called him a “BJP agent”.
