Family members of 20-year-old Maqsood, who died after being mauled by a white tiger at the Delhi zoo, were unaware of his presence at the zoo. They were expecting him to be at the factory where he was employed.

Maqsood was a daily wage labourer at a factory in Anand Parbat, close to his home. According to his father, Maqsood was undergoing treatment for a mental ailment. “He was suffering from some mental illness for which he was under-going treatment for the last two years. But he was getting better and was behaving completely normal these days,” his father said.
