Utkal varsity website hacked by suspected Pakistani group

May 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:23 am IST - BHUBANESWAR:

The official website of the Utkal University has been hacked on Tuesday by a suspected cyber group from Pakistan.

The defacing of www.utkaluniversity.ac.in came to the fore in the morning. Hackers had posted a slogan ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on the site’s homepage. The cyber miscreants also ridiculed the level of the website security.

Manmath Kumar Biswal, registrar of Utkal University, filed a complaint with the cyber crime police station of Crime Branch.

The website was designed and hosted by All-India On-line, Bhubaneswar. On the complaint, the cyber crime police station has registered a case under section 465/469 of IPC and started an investigation.

Earlier this year, a hackers’ group who were allegedly from Pakistan had defaced one of websites of the regional transport offices in Ganjam. The cyber attackers had then claimed to be from Pakistan. An Utkal University official said there was no loss of data in the cyber attack.

It, however, panicked students as the university had come out with advertisement for admission in different classes in various departments.
