With 10 days to go for the second International Yoga Day, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has developed a Yoga kit designed by the National Institute of Design (NID).

The kit includes clothes for men and women, a Khadi mat and Khadi napkin. The items have been stitched by people in the flood-affected areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

Unique touch

To add to the style quotient, a unique tricoloured Khadi garland has been included in the kit.

KVIC chairman V.K Saxena said that a discount of 30 per cent would be offered on the kits.

Artisans to benefit

“This is for the first time that KVIC has entered into activities that will generate extra employment for Khadi artisans,” said Mr. Saxena.

After incorporating the discount, the kit for men will cost Rs. 1,500, while that for women is priced at Rs. 1,350.

The New Delhi Municipal Council has already ordered KVIC to supply 1,000 kits, which will be available for sale from June 11 at Khadi outlets in New Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Bhopal, Ernakulam and Kolkata.

“As there are just 10 days left, we target to sell 6,000 kits by June 21 – International Yoga Day — through aggressive marketing,” Mr. Saxena added.
