Ministers, who are part of a committee appointed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to look into the delay in housing projects in Noida and Greater Noida, faced the ire of home buyers on Wednesday who alleged that the government had taken no concrete steps to give them relief.

The committee, headed by Minister of Urban Development Suresh Khanna, is on a two-day visit to Noida and Greater Noida to understand and address the issues of builders as well as buyers.

Amit Singh, a home buyer in an Amrapali housing project, said that hundreds of people have been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past 20 days to get possession of their homes. “Though the Ministers gave us many assurances, we will continue our strike till we are convinced that we will get possession of homes in a fixed time frame,” he said.

‘We need our flats’

Anand Kumar, a buyer in the Jaypee Wishtown project, said: “As the company has declared bankruptcy, how are we going to get our flats? Where is our lifetime saving heading towards? We need our flats. We are ready to file an FIR against Jaypee Infra if the panel asks us to, but we need a solution.”

Ram Avtar, another buyer, said: “The committee has said it will initiate action against builders within 24 hours”. The Ministers said they will come out with an action plan on Thursday, after meeting the builders.
