The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the 6.67-km-long extension of the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line from Noida City Centre to Noida Electronic City.
A statement released by the government said that the Centre will have a liability of over ₹340 crore out of the entire project cost amounting to ₹1,967 crore.
“In a major boost to public transport infrastructure in Noida, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the extension, which will cover a length of 6.675 km. Government of India liability will be ₹340.60 crore on account of Grant and Subordinate Debt,” read the statement.
Phase III project
The extension of the Delhi Metro’s network from Noida City Centre to Noida Electronic City is part of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Phase III project.
The new segment, which is an extension of the currently operational Blue Line that connects Dwarka and Noida City Centre, will further take the rapid transport system to Noida Electronic City.
Six stations
The corridor will have six stations and construction work for this segment is already underway.
“About 81% progress of civil work and 55% of overall financial progress of the project has been achieved,” read the statement.
The latest progress report of the DMRC pertaining to this segment stated that the line should be completed by September 2018 “subject to availability of land and fund”.
