Car rams two autos and crashes into the men on GT Karnal Road

Two persons, including a teenager, were killed and three sustained serious injuries when a speeding car rammed two auto-rickshaws on GT Karnal Road at the Delhi-Haryana border on Sunday morning before ploughing into a group of young men.

Nineteen-year-old Satish, a resident of Rajasthan, and auto-rickshaw driver Surender (36) died on the spot. The injured have been identified as Ravi, Mahesh and Yashpal. Ravi and Mahesh are said to be critical in condition.

Satish along with his friends Ravi, Mahesh and Yashpal were drinking tea at a roadside tea stall near a bus shelter in Samaipur Badli when the speeding Chevrolet Cruze ploughed into them. The young men from Rajasthan had come to take the Central Reserve Police Force examination scheduled to be held in Bawana. But after the exam was rescheduled, they were planning to return to Rajasthan. The victims were apparently waiting for a bus to Maharana Pratap Inter-State Bus Terminus when the accident took place.

The car also hit two auto-rickshaws parked near the bus shelter and dragged them for a few metres before it ploughed into the young men. Both the auto-rickshaws and the car were badly damaged in the accident. The injured were taken to a hospital in Rohini Sector-3. Yashpal, who escaped with minor injuries, was discharged after first-aid. Ravi and Mahesh, who sustained head injuries, were later referred to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Ankit, who was behind the wheel, was returning after eating breakfast at a dhaba at Murthal in Sonepat along with a friend. Ankit and his friend also sustained injuries in the accident and were given medical assistance. Son of a businessman, Ankit is a resident of Dwarka.

A case has been registered at Shalimar Bagh police station.
