Two men involved in interState smuggling of weapons have been arrested, the police said on Wednesday.
A police team on March 10 arrested Bhisham (42) alias Chintu with a country-made 315 bore pistol and two live cartridges when he came to Bhalswa Jheel in north-west Delhi to meet his associates, JCP (crime) Praveer Ranjan said.
Arrest leads to another
Bhisham led the police to another accused Parwinder (30) alias Balwinder alias Sonu, who was later arrested with five firearms including three country-made sophisticated pistols, two desi kattas and 10 live cartridges, he said.
During interrogation it was found that Bhisham was involved in several cases including murder and served a jail term of 10 years, Ranjan said.
Jumping parole
“He was granted interim bail in October 2016 but he jumped his parole after December 16, 2016. After that, he met his jail friend Parwinder and started trading illegal arms and ammunition,” the officer said.
Parwinder also disclosed about his involvement in other cases of murder, theft and Arms Act, he said. “The duo used to purchase the illegal weapons from Meerut and Muzaffarnagar in UP,” the officer said.
