Elaborate arrangements have been made by the Delhi Traffic Police to ensure that vehicular flow is not disrupted due to the ‘Kanwar Yatra’.

The preparations came into force on Monday and will remain in effect till July 21, a senior Delhi Traffic Police officer said.

According to the arrangement, no heavy commercial vehicles, except city buses, will be allowed on G.T. Road towards Shahdara and Wazirabad Road, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic (Headquarters), Narendra Singh Bundela, said.

Diversions

They will be diverted from G.T. Karnal Road towards National Highway 24 (NH-24), from Loni Road (Shahdara) to Wazirabad Road, and from Sonia Vihar and other internal roads to Outer Ring Road, he said.

Due to the diversions, NH-24 is likely to be witness congestion. Heavy traffic congestion is likely to occur on Rani Jhansi Road and Boulevard Road. Other stretches that might witness slow traffic movement include Azad Market Chowk, Khajuri Chowk, Gokalpuri flyover, 66-Foota Road, Maujpur Chowk, Babarpur T-point and Bhajanpura Chowk. The main routes followed by Kanwariyas include the border points such as Apsara, Bhopara, Maharajpur and Kalindi Kunj, among others.
