In an alleged case of hit and run, a 30-year-old traffic police constable on duty, under the Geeta Colony flyover, died on Saturday morning. The police said an unidentified truck hit him when he was trying to stop it for checking.

Constable Beenesh Kumar, along with other officers, was tasked with checking vehicles under the flyover, and at around 6.45 a.m. when he tried to intercept a truck, the driver attempted to flee hitting him. The officer was taken to MAX Hospital in Patparganj where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police said that they have not been able to identify the truck and the driver but are investigating the matter. “We are scanning the CCTV footage of the area,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Harendra K. Singh. A case was registered at Kotwali police station.
