Traders urge Centre to hold talks with Anna

August 23, 2011 09:47 am | Updated August 10, 2016 04:12 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Leaders belonging to prominent trade associations of Delhi urged the Union Government on Monday to initiate talks with Anna Hazare and his team and introduce an effective Lokpal Bill to rein in corruption.

Adopting a resolution at a meeting organised by the Confederation of All-India Traders, the trading community expressed concern over the deadlock between Team Anna and the Union Government. It wants the involvement of all political parties in finding a way to bring a strong and effective Lokpal Bill.

The traders have also urged the Government to introduce a Law of Administrative Accountability to fix responsibilities on government servants while discharging their duties.

Rather than addressing issues concerning the common man, the trade leaders said the Government's policies are designed to grant benefits to big corporate houses. The welfare of the middle class is finding no place in the Government's agenda, said CAIT.
