Traders to keep shops shut on Jan. 23

January 20, 2018 11:51 pm | Updated 11:51 pm IST - NEW DELHI

Protesting against the ongoing sealing drive by the civic bodies, traders on Saturday decided that they would keep their shops shut on January 23, a statement from the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said.

Praveen Khandelwal, national secretary general of CAIT, said the decision was taken at a meeting, attended by 400 traders, held at the Constitution Club here on Saturday.

The municipal corporations have been sealing commercial establishments for a range of violations, including using basements illegally and not paying conversion charges.

Traders have, however, said that the sealing drive across the city is taking place against those who have already paid conversion charges.
