Dreaded gangster Surender Malik alias Neetu Daboda was killed along with two of his accomplices in an encounter with the Delhi Police Special Cell near Hyatt Hotel in South Delhi on Thursday night.
Daboda carried a reward of Rs.7 lakh on his head for alleged involvement in murder, dacoity, robbery and extortion. He was allegedly involved in the murder of Head Constable Ram Kishan in Kanjhawala last year.
The Special Cell got a tip-off that Daboda would come near the hotel in a car with his accomplices and laid a trap. They spotted the vehicle around 10.45 p.m. following which they attempted to intercept it.
The suspects rammed the police vehicle, alighted from their car and attempted to flee through a service road.
When the police team started chasing them, the criminals allegedly opened fire. In the retaliatory fire, the three sustained bullet injuries.
They were rushed to the nearby AIIMS Trauma Centre where they were declared dead.
While one of Daboda’s accomplices was identified as Alok Gupta, the other was carrying an identity card in the name of Deepak. The police are trying to establish his identity.
According to the police, they along with their Punjab Police counterparts had an encounter with Daboda and his accomplices at Mansa earlier this year.
Although he got injured, he managed to escape. One of his accomplices was later arrested by the police.
