In the wake of the shooting of a young toll tax attendant on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway this past week, the Haryana Police have made certain suggestions to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the DSC Limited for tightening security at the plazas.

“We have advised NHAI and DSC Limited to install more cameras at logical angles. The company has been advised to take pictures of the drivers and the vehicles registration plates by turning off their headlights. Also, they have been asked to enter complete details of the vehicle and keep record of the mobile numbers of those exempted from paying the toll,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway Limited has announced a compensation of Rs.5 lakh to the next of kin of toll tax attendant Umesh Kumar Pandey, who was shot at the toll plaza this past week. It is in addition to the Rs.3 lakh insurance money.

The company has announced a compensation of Rs.5 lakh which would be handed over to Umesh's family, said a press statement issued by the company. He was also entitled to Rs.3 lakh insurance and efforts are being made for speedily processing of the claim, the statement said.
