Toddler, mother reunited

August 09, 2016 08:14 am | Updated 08:14 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A toddler who had ventured out of her house and ended up at a nearby Delhi Metro station was reunited with her mother, thanks to the alertness of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the station.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 7 pm, when a CISF CCTV observer noticed a girl child, aged about 18 months, crying at the stairs of gate number 1 of the Nawada metro station in west Delhi.

“He immediately informed the shift-in-charge, who in turn rushed to the spot along with a woman CISF constable and enquired about the child from the passers-by and passengers,” the spokesperson said. However, no one could identify the child or remember seeing her with a guardian.

The girl was brought to the station controller room and announcements were made on the public address system, still nobody came forward to identify her, the spokesperson said.

“After some time, a woman named Sunita Malav, a resident of Mohan Garden in Uttam Nagar, arrived at the station saying her daughter was missing.”

She said her daughter was playing nearby and may have reached the metro station unknowingly.

“She was brought to the station controller room and after proper verification, the girl was handed over to her mother, who was thankful to the CISF for re-uniting her with her daughter,” the spokesperson said.
