Manoj Tiwari, president of the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took his campaign to east Delhi’s Naveen Shahdara district on Thursday.

Mr. Tiwari was accompanied by district president Kailash Jain, yatra in-charge Harsh Malhotra, and councillors Manoj Tyagi, Sanjay Surjan and Sushma Sharma.

Also, the Delhi BJP chief campaigned for party candidates in Ashok Nagar, Ram Nagar, Rohtash Nagar, Welcome Colony, Subhash Mohalla, Kardampuri, Babarpur, Janta Colony, Nand Nagri, Sunder Nagri, New Seemapuri, and Dilshad Garden wards.

‘Disrespected mandate’

Mr. Tiwari said that in the last one month, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had disrespected the mandate of the people by holding the EVMs responsible for his electoral losses.

“As a result, the people have forfeited the security deposit of the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said referring to the result of the Rajouri Garden bypoll.

“We are confident that in the upcoming municipal corporation elections, the people of Delhi will ensure the BJP is victorious with a two-third majority. We promise to provide the people of Delhi the best of civic amenities, especially to the residents of unauthorised colonies, rehabilitation colonies and rural areas,” he said.

Elections to the 272 wards will be held on April 23.
