Tihar inmates to get accounts under Jan Dhan Yojna

Inmates lodged in Tihar Jail will soon get their own bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna.

“Around 3,000-4,000 inmates in the jail, including convicts and under trials who have been lodged for a long time, will have their own bank accounts soon,” said a Tihar jail official.

The bank officials will initially start with all Aadhar Card holders as it would be easy to complete the formalities with them.

Once the inmates get their bank accounts, the wages that they earn by working in the jail factories will be deposited in the accounts.
