The Himachal Pradesh Police have intensified vigilance to prevent infiltration of militants after unconfirmed reports of sighting of suspicious people on the border with Jammu and Kashmir.

Director-General of Police Sanjay Kumar said here on Tuesday that an inter-State coordination meeting was held recently to review the border situation.

Responding to vernacular media reports about alleged infiltration of terrorists into the hill State, he said 12 outstation check posts had been set up in the border areas of Chamba district. In addition, 466 security police officers and 749 village defence committee members had joined the drive to make the border safe. CCTV cameras had been installed to record the movement of people. The State police are verifying the identity of workers coming from outside the State.
