Three-year-old kidnapped, sold to woman, rescued

Man kidnapped the boy at the instance of colleague

A three-year-old boy who was kidnapped allegedly by a young man from Chandni Mahal in the Walled City of Delhi and sold to a woman for Rs.10,000 earlier this week, has been rescued and the two accused arrested.

The police had received a complaint from Nagma, alleging that her son Zubaid Ali had gone missing from outside the house on Tuesday.

Subsequently, the police registered a kidnapping case and initiated efforts to trace the boy.

In the early hours of Saturday, the police received a tip-off the person who had kidnapped the victim would come to Hauz Qazi.

Mohammad Altaf, 23, was arrested after he purportedly disclosed that he had kidnapped the boy and sold him to Saema, 26, for Rs.10,000.

At his instance, the police rescued the child and arrested Saema.

According to the police, the accused work at a shop in Chandni Mahal. Saema, who had been living separately from her husband, had asked Altaf to get a child for her.

Altaf then allegedly kidnapped Zubaid from outside his house and handed him over to Saema, who paid him Rs.5,000 as the first instalment.
