The wait for a judgment in the Arushi-Hemraj murder case was prolonged even more on Monday as the order, which was earlier slated to be pronounced at 10 a.m., was delayed to 2 p.m. and was finally announced at 3.20 p.m.
Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case, the Ghaziabad Police had made arrangements for three-tier security. Around 120 police personnel were deployed in the three layers.
Metal detectors were put in place at the three entrance gates and all visitors to the court premises were thoroughly frisked.
However, unlike other high-profile cases that have been heard in Delhi courts, this case did not see the common public in attendance. Other than journalists, some students of a local college were present. They had come to catch a glimpse of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, but were disappointed as policemen guarding the dentist couple escorted them to the courtroom from a back gate away from the public and media glare.
Photojournalists sat on the walls to peep inside, while other journalists waited for the lawyers to come out of the courtroom as the media was not allowed inside.
After the order was pronounced, a representative from the Talwar family issued a pre-drafted printed statement on behalf of the couple.
