It was another sweltering day for Delhiites as the maximum temperature settled at 42.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the season’s average, on Sunday.
Though the high maximum temperature has persisted for three days in a row, not much relief likely till May 19 according to the sources at the Meteorological Department.
At the Palam Observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.4 degrees and the minimum temperature was 27.4 degrees, two degrees above normal. The humidity level oscillated between 23 per cent and 56 per cent.
According to the forecast for Monday, the skies will be partly cloudy with a likelihood of dust storm /thunderstorm towards evening/night in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 43 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius.
Some of the season’s hottest days have been April 18 (42 degrees Celsius), May 2 (the hottest day of the season with a maximum of 44 degrees Celsius) and the three day between May 13 and May 15 (during which the temperature hovered around 42.3 and 43 degrees Celsius).
