Three Nigerian nationals were arrested in east Delhi for allegedly abducting one of their associates over a business dispute. Kenneth Uchenna, 39, Cliff Osa, 25 and Solomun, 40, had abducted one James Grant last Thursday, said Rishi Pal, deputy commissioner of police (east).

“On November 24, Mr. Grant’s wife, reported that her husband had left their residence around 5.30 p.m. the previous evening and never came back. All her attempts at contacting him failed as his phone went unanswered,” said the DCP.

At 7.30 a.m. the next day, the police said she received a call from her husband’s phone. The unknown person told her that her husband had been abducted and told her to arrange ₹25 lakh for his release, failing which he would be killed.

Fake exchange

The woman informed the police, who advised her to arrange a fake exchange in Neb Sarai. A police team standing by overpowered the three abductors when they approached her for the ransom money.

“Upon investigation and interrogation, it has emerged that the main accused, Uchenna, had some business dispute with Mr. Grant and for that he had abducted him in order to coerce him and his wife to pay the debt and also get extra money from him,” the DCP added.
