The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested three men near G.T. Karnal Road for allegedly robbing people while wearing khaki uniforms.

Bharat Bhushan Datta (36), Pankaj (27) and Ravi Datta (29) would allegedly follow a target car in separate vehicles and intercept it on the pretext of checking documents. “Once the car occupants got involved in a conversation, they would forcibly enter the vehicle with their firearms, take the victims to a remote place and push them out after robbing them,” said DCP (crime) G. Ram Gopal Naik.

The police received a tip-off regarding the trio’s arrival near G.T. Karnal Road and nabbed them around 6.30 p.m. “They were waiting at the spot. They tried to flee when they sensed something was amiss but they were overpowered,” he said.

Loot recovered

The police have recovered a country-made pistol, 16 silver chains, five silver coins, 211 pairs of silver anklets, 15 silver bracelets, 64 silver statues of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi, and 449 silver rakhis .
