Three members of an inter-State gang accused of supplying illegal arms in the National Capital Region were arrested by the Special Cell on Wednesday.

The police claim to have recovered 18 sophisticated pistols and an SUV which was allegedly used to conceal the weapons.

Shiv Singh alias Shiva, 25, Mangal Singh, 24, and Ravi, 20, were arrested after the police received a tip-off regarding their arrival from Rajasthan to drop a consignment at Yamuna Khadar in north-east Delhi.

“We laid a trap and apprehended them from the spot around 3 p.m.,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P.S. Kushwah.

Interrogation

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had been supplying illegal arms since the past four years and had supplied over 500 pistols in Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh.

“They would procure arms for ₹6,000 from Madhya Pradesh and sell them for ₹20,000. The gang bought pistols from Fauzi at Khargone in Madhya Pradesh. Efforts are on to identify their associates in other cities,” said Mr. Kushwah.
